Hoods Supreme

Identification: Large. Conic. The skin colour is greenish yellow over which is a plale red wash covering most of the surface except the most shaded face. Scattered red striping. The eye is open and large, set in a shallow and flat, puckered basin. The stem is long and slender, set in an open and moderately deep cavity. Smooth and somewhat glossy.
Characteristics: The flesh is white, coarse?grained and soft. Very sweet. Does not keep well
Uses: Dessert also used for baking and sauces.
Origins: Raised from a pip by B.Y. Hood of Duriehill, Angus (Scotland) 1924
Cultivation: Moderately vigorous. Ready for harvest starting in the first half of the SECOND period. Crops tend to be light.
